Dr. Kemi Jona, a computer scientist, educator, and university administrator, is the Founding Director of the Lowell Institute School and the Associate Dean for undergraduate programs at the College of Professional Studies. Previously, Dr. Jona was a Research Professor at Northwestern University, where he led research and development projects advancing the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) curriculum and developed new learning technologies, such as tools for online science and remote labs, computational thinking, and new game-based approaches to engage youth in STEM and STEAM (STEM+arts/design). He was the founding Director of the Northwestern University Office of STEM Education Partnerships that connects the university to the K-12 community to advance STEM education.

Dr. Jona is a member of the steering committee of the National Alliance for Broader Impacts, a nationwide organization that advances the field of STEM outreach and public engagement with science. He is an advisor and consultant to industry, nonprofits, school districts, and federal, state, and local agencies on strategic process and learning-related issues, curriculum redesign, teacher professional development, and STEM education and outreach. Dr. Jona has received many honors and awards for his work. He was invited to testify to the House Committee on Space, Science, and Technology and has also served on the board of directors of the International Association of K-12 Online Learning.
