Diana facilitates community-engaged research with an emphasis on increasing environmental health literacy. Prior to this position, she received her PhD in Toxicology, followed by a post-doc position in Public Health, and a certificate in Free-Choice Learning. Dr. Rohlman specializes in integrating communities into research and the research process (citizen science), returning results to study participants, and integrating environmental health literacy into data disclosure mechanisms (returning data to research participants). Dr. Rohlman teaches an U-Engage course, “Closing the Gap – Where Science Meets the Media”, that works with students to define the role of science communication within research and data presentation. She has spoken about methods of science communication and data disclosure at local and national conferences, and worked with the National Pesticide Information Center to discuss risk communication in the context of community-engaged research.

Dr. Rohlman has a strong interest in science education and outreach, and works with Precollege Programs at Oregon State University to provide science outreach programs for K-12 students, and with the Swinomish Indian Tribal Community to build a community-based environmental health education program.
